Sat – also known as Standard Assessment Tasks is a national curriculum test taken at the end of different key stages. In England, the test is usually taken in May. The different key stages are classified by Age. For example, Children Age seven – take the KS1 national tests in English and maths. The papers are taken and marked in school. Teachers decide the level achieved
Age 11 - KS2 national tests in English, maths and science
Age 14: KS3 national tests in English, maths and science
Both KS2 and 3 are taken in school but marked externally and the school's overall results are published nationally.
